About Ikaika Anderson
Ikaika Anderson is a lifelong Windward Oʻahu resident & a proud graduate of Kamehameha Schools. He earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism & Political Science from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
From 2009 to 2021, Anderson served as Honolulu City Councilmember for District 3, representing Waimānalo, Kailua, and Kāneʻohe. In 2019, he was elected Chair of the Honolulu City Council. Throughout his public service, he focused on affordable housing, land-use planning, agriculture, education, healthcare, & issues directly impacting Native Hawaiian families & communities.
Anderson is now running for OHA Trustee At-Large because he believes it is time for meaningful change at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
“I am filing today because our beneficiaries deserve better,” said Anderson. “For too long, important decisions have been made behind closed doors while our people continue to struggle with housing, education, healthcare, & the protection of our culture & natural resources. It is time for OHA to prioritize real, measurable improvements in quality of life & to operate with complete transparency & full accountability to the people it serves.”
“I am committed to listening to our ʻohana & delivering results,” he added. “The people of Hawaiʻi deserve an OHA Trustee who will fight for their needs & ensure every decision is made in the open.”
